KYTC begins $11 million project to improve KY 32 in southern Fleming County
Goddard slide repairs start first

FLEMINGSBURG, Ky. (Aug. 29, 2019) – Work begins Friday on an $11 million Kentucky Transportation Cabinet project to improve nearly 11 miles of KY 32 in southern Fleming County.

The project includes slide repairs, drainage work and culvert extensions, and resurfacing of the highway between the KY 156 (Mt. Hope Road) intersection and the Rowan County line.

To begin, contractors will repair the KY 32 slide area just east – on the Morehead side – of Goddard hill. The road will be one lane at that location after Labor Day, with traffic controlled by temporary signals. Motorists should expect delays and plan travel accordingly.

Slide repairs, as well as drainage work, culvert extensions, and some pavement fixes, will continue through the fall. A winter break will be followed by final resurfacing work in the spring.

The project is being done under an $11,166,794 low-bid contract awarded by the Transportation Cabinet to H.G. Mays Corporation. Contractors have until June 30, 2020, to complete the project.

Road work schedules are subject to change depending on weather conditions. Motorists are asked to heed all warning signs, slow down in work zones and remain aware of workers and construction equipment when traveling.
