Fleming County Fiscal Court awarded $490,000 in discretionary funds for critical pavement improvements
Resurfacing repairs to be made to three area roads

FLEMINGSBURG, Ky. (April 9, 2019) – During Tuesday's Fleming County Fiscal Court meeting, Department of Rural and Municipal Aid officials announced $490,000 in discretionary funds for vital resurfacing work on Turner Road, Logan Run Road and Maddox Pike. The nearly half a million dollar investment supports Governor Matt Bevin's commitment to prioritize transportation infrastructure projects and increase economic opportunity across the Commonwealth.

"The Bevin Administration continues to focus on taking care of what we have at both the state and local level to address critical infrastructure needs that improve safety and support job creation and retention," said Kentucky Transportation Cabinet Secretary Greg Thomas. "This funding builds upon existing transportation investments and allows the Cabinet to collaborate with local governments to identify projects that will have large impacts to communities."

These roads were identified as being among the most critical in the county.

"Governor Matt Bevin, Kentucky Transportation Cabinet and Department of Rural and Municipal Aid Commissioner Gray Tomblyn II were instrumental in assisting Fleming County in obtaining the much needed Discretionary Funds to provide safe and efficient routes for our constituents, businesses and schools who travel on Turner Road, Logan Run Road and Maddox Pike," said Fleming Judge-Executive Larry Foxworthy. "This award of additional funding from the Transportation Cabinet has made it possible to enhance the quality of life and to ensure the safety of our citizens in the Commonwealth."

These heavily traveled routes carry nearly 825 motorists daily and provide access to several agricultural operations and businesses.

"Having safe and properly maintained roadways is crucial to our community," said Sen. Stephen West. "These resurfacing projects will no doubt benefit the people of Fleming County."

Resurfacing repairs address existing surface cracks, potholes, rutting, crumbling shoulders and base failures.

"I am pleased that this Administration continues to fund transportation improvements such as these that maintain safety and enhance public use," said Rep. John Sims.

Fleming County Fiscal Court is responsible for administering the work, and KYTC will reimburse the county for the projects.

Resurfacing work will address:

  • Turner Road (CR 1049) from milepoint 0.00 to milepoint 4.11
  • Logan Run Road (CR 1047) from milepoint 0.00 to milepoint 2.03
  • Maddox Pike/ Maddox Pike "Y"(CR 1037) from milepoint 0.00 to 0.013
