Old US 23 (KY 757) in Boyd County to reopen Friday afternoon
$66,000 state Rural Secondary emergency project complete

FLEMINGSBURG, Ky. (Feb. 7, 2019) – With mudslide repairs complete, a part of old US 23 along the Big Sandy River in Boyd County (KY 757) that's been closed since December will reopen Friday afternoon.

State highway crews and contractors have finished clearing debris, stabilizing the roadside slope and clearing ditchlines on KY 757 from the 7 to 8 mile markers between Campbell's Branch and Calgon northeast of US 23. Crews expect to remove barricades between noon and 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 8, and reopen the road – which serves an average of 700 vehicles per day to local businesses and the Marathon Refinery.

Kentucky Department of Highways District 9 received $66,000 in Rural Secondary emergency funds for the repair project.

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet administers emergency fund programs to help counties, cities and state highway districts repair and restore damaged infrastructure.

"The Bevin administration is committed to the Cabinet's mission of providing a safe, reliable transportation network for all Kentuckians," said KYTC Secretary Greg Thomas.
