Traffic Advisory: KY 168 to close in Boyd County for slip repair
Two-week repair scheduled

FLEMINGSBURG, Ky. (Oct. 1, 2018) – Repairs to a roadside slip on KY 168 along Catletts Creek in Boyd County will require a two-week closure of the state highway in October.

Beginning Wednesday, Oct. 3, state crews and contractors will close KY 168 between Twin Fork and Barbecue Road – at milepoint 0.9, almost a mile west of US 23 at Catlettsburg. Contractors will drill alongside the roadway and install steel T-rail posts and backfill to repair an embankment slip and prevent it from slipping further. Work will take approximately 10 days, weather permitting.

During construction, the road will be open on either side up to the work site. However, it will remain closed to all through traffic at the work site until the repair is complete.

During the road closure, through traffic may detour using KY 3294-Cannonsburg Road, KY 538 and US 60. Motorists needing to connect between US 23 at Catlettsburg and Blackburn Avenue in south Ashland should seek alternate routes such as US 23 and Blackburn, 43rd or 44th streets.

Road work schedules are subject to change depending on weather conditions. Motorists are asked to heed all warning signs, slow down in work zones and remain aware of workers and construction equipment when traveling.
