Traffic Advisory: Road work on KY 168, KY 180, KY 5 in Boyd, KY 1 in Greenup
Expect one-lane, flagged traffic and delays

FLEMINGSBURG, Ky. (Friday, Sept. 14, 2018) – Motorists in Boyd and Greenup counties should watch for continued road work in several areas, especially this weekend on KY 168-Blackburn Avenue and KY 180 in the Ashland area. State highway construction projects under way now include:

KY 168 – Boyd

On Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 15-16, contractors will be applying sealant to cracks in the roadway surface along 8 miles of KY 168-Blackburn Avenue between US 23 at Catlettsburg and US 23 at Hoods Creek in Ashland - the entire length of the highway through the Ashland area.

The work will require one-lane flagged traffic each day. Lengthy traffic delays are likely. While pavement sealing operations move quickly, it's important to heed signs and flaggers as they direct traffic away from recently sealed areas until the sealant has had time to dry. The work is weather dependent and could be delayed due to rain.

KY 180 – Boyd

Contractors have started resurfacing work on KY 180 at Cannonsburg. Lane closures and flagged traffic will continue today, Saturday and next week as crews work to pave the highway from McDonald's through the I-64 interchange to the KY 3 intersection. Motorists should expect delays, and adjust travel plans accordingly.

KY 5 – Boyd

Contractors will finish paving work today along 4 miles of KY 5 in Boyd County, from Summitt to Bellefonte. However, occasional lane closures and flagged traffic are possible next week for final striping, shoulder work and other details.

KY 1 – Greenup

A project to resurface 5 miles of KY 1 – from just south of the KY 207 intersection at Argillite north to US 23 at Greenup – will continue Saturday and next week.

Contractors have finished the initial chip-seal layer of pavement, and work will now start on a very thin blacktop layer to create the final driving surface.

Until construction is complete, please heed all warning signs, leave space between vehicles for adequate braking or maneuvering, and remain aware of workers and construction equipment at all times.

Road work schedules are subject to change depending on weather conditions. Motorists are asked to heed all warning signs, slow down in work zones and remain aware of workers and construction equipment when traveling.
