Bridge work on KY 7 at Little Sandy River in downtown Sandy Hook
Work starts Monday, July 30
FLEMINGSBURG, Ky. (July 27, 2018) – Work on a KY 7 bridge restoration project in downtown Sandy Hook scheduled to start Monday, July 30, will require temporary traffic restrictions.
On Monday, contractors will begin a concrete overlay and other restoration work on the KY 7 bridge over the Little Sandy River at the intersection of KY 7 and KY 32 in downtown Sandy Hook.
The work will require one-lane traffic across the bridge for about the next four weeks. Traffic will be controlled by temporary signals. Motorists should expect delays, and adjust travel plans accordingly.
The work is part of a $900,000 Transportation Cabinet project to improve seven bridges in northeast Kentucky. In addition to the KY 7 bridge in Sandy Hook, the project includes restoration of six other bridges, including:
- US 60 over the Little Sandy River at Grayson
- KY 1661 bridge over the Little Sandy River in Carter County
- KY 7 bridge over Doctors Branch in Elliott County
- KY 1013 bridge over Fox Creek in Fleming County
- KY 57 bridge over Somerset Creek in Nicholas County
- KY 377 bridge over Brushy Creek in Rowan County
Traffic changes will be announced prior to construction. All work is being done under a $936,049.79 low-bid Transportation Cabinet contract awarded to M&M Services Co. Inc.
Road work schedules are subject to change depending on weather conditions. Motorists are asked to heed all warning signs, slow down in work zones and remain aware of workers and construction equipment when traveling.
