Interstate 71 ramp closure in Oldham County to begin June 19

Ramp closure to allow for bridge painting

Louisville, KY (June 12, 2019) - The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) advises motorists of nighttime ramp closures on Interstate 71 in Oldham County. The ramp from KY 146 (LaGrange Road) onto I-71 North in Buckner will be closed nightly for installation of rigging and equipment to paint a bridge that crosses the interstate. Contract crews recently replaced a pier cap and some expansion joints on the KY 146 overpass at mile marker 17.4. Now painting of the steel bridge beams can start.

The entrance ramp from KY 146 to I-71 North is scheduled for nighttime ramp closures beginning Wednesday, June 19 and continuing for approximately one week. The ramp will be closed from 7 p.m. in the evening until 5 a.m. the following morning.

Motorists on KY 146 that need to access I-71 North should follow the signed detour via KY 146 East to KY 393 South and then access the interstate.

In addition, the left lane of I-71 is being closed nightly in both directions at the KY 146 overpass during the bridge painting.

This construction is part of a $2.5 million contract for painting ten bridges on Interstate 71 in Jefferson and Oldham Counties. Work is being performed by Seminole Equipment Incorporated of Tarpon Springs, Florida.

The date and duration of this work may be adjusted if inclement weather or other unforeseen delays occur.  Visit goky.ky.gov for the latest in traffic and travel information in the Commonwealth of Kentucky.  You can also get traffic information for the District 5 counties at facebook.com/KYTCDistrict5 and twitter.com/KYTCDistrict5 .
