Changes to Stop Condition on KY 72 and Intersection of KY 413 in Harlan County will Start Tuesday, August 11

MANCHESTER, Ky. (Aug. 7, 2020) The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) advises motorists that changes to a stop condition on KY 72 and the intersection of KY 413 in Harlan County will start Tuesday, August 11.

Currently, the stop condition is only posted on the KY 413 northbound approach. After this work, the KY 413 southbound approach will become the stop condition. KY 72 to KY 413 southbound and KY 413 northbound to KY 72 will become a continuous movement.

Temporary rumble strips will be added in advance of the new stop condition and "NEW TRAFFIC PATTERN AHEAD" signs will be posted on all approaches. This change is to improve safety as determined by traffic turning movement counts at the intersection.

KYTC asks motorists to be aware of the work zone, expect delays, and to utilize safe driving habits when traveling through the area.

The date, time, and duration of work may be adjusted if inclement weather or other unforeseen delays occur. Motorists can access travel and traffic conditions at http://goky.ky.gov or contribute their reports at www.waze.com or via the Waze mobile application.
