Construction to begin on new Cumberland Parkway/KY 910 interchange in Russell County

SOMERSET, Ky. (May 18, 2018) – The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) recently awarded a contract for the construction of a new interchange along the Cumberland Parkway in Russell County. The $6.3 million project will consist of new on and off ramps constructed at the east KY 910 overpass near the Russell/Casey County line and will become Exit 70.

Prime contractor, Hinkle Construction Services, LLC is scheduled to begin work next week clearing trees and brush. Once clearing has been completed, full construction activities will begin.

Motorists are advised to pay close attention to signage while traveling through the work zone. Construction activities will require one lane work zones at times along the Cumberland Parkway and KY 910. Speed limits will also be reduced from 70 mph to 55 mph on the Cumberland Parkway and from 55 mph to 45 mph on KY 910.

Work is scheduled to be complete in June 2019. The start and duration of work may be adjusted for inclement weather or other unforeseeable delays.
