Watch for lane and road closures
FLEMINGSBURG, Ky. (Oct. 3, 2013) – Motorists should watch for lane closures and road work next week, the week of Oct. 7, in Fleming, Mason, Boyd, Carter and Greenup counties.
Beginning Monday, there will be daytime closures on KY 1013 (Watson Road) in Fleming County about one mile south of KY 32 to repair an embankment failure. The road will be closed 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily for approximately two weeks while contractors make the repair.
Also beginning Monday, there will be intermittent lane closures on US 23 in Boyd County at the Lawrence County line. Watch for slowed and one-lane traffic for several days in both directions.
On Tuesday, Oct. 8, bridge maintenance on KY 773 in Carter County will require lane closures and traffic control across the Little Sandy River bridges from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Delays are possible.
Elsewhere in Kentucky Department of Highways District 9, road work is continuing on:
- Interstate 64 in Carter County, from mile markers 160 to 166 between Olive Hill and Grayson. Watch for one-lane traffic and shifting work zones. Speed limit has been reduced to 55 miles per hour.
- US 23 in Greenup County, from Russell to South Portsmouth. Watch for shoulder paving along the entire route and turn lane construction at multiple intersections. Lane closures and delays possible where crews are working.
- The AA Highway (KY 9) in Mason County, where crews are finishing up a resurfacing project between Strodes Run Road and US 62. Lane restrictions and delays possible in work zones.
- The Goddard Covered Bridge in Fleming County. The bridge will be closed through Oct. 11, or until approach span repairs are complete. Motorists may detour using the nearby Goddard Road bridge and local routes.
Road work schedules are subject to change depending on weather conditions. Motorists are asked to heed all warning signs and flaggers, drive carefully in work zones, and remain aware of workers and construction equipment at all times.
