Transportation Cabinet seeks comment on KY 244 bridge replacement
Public meeting Tuesday, June 12, 5-7 p.m. at Russell City Hall
FLEMINGSBURG, Ky. – Highway engineers designing a new KY 244 bridge over the CSX railroad at Russell, locally known as the Russell viaduct, will present their options at a June 12 public meeting.
The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet bridge replacement project proposes six alternatives, which range from building a new bridge in place of the existing span to relocating both road and bridge with a new US 23 intersection.
Preliminary designs for each alternative have been mapped out and will be displayed at the public meeting – Tuesday, June 12, 5-7 p.m. at Russell City Hall.
Engineers encourage residents and roadway users to attend, to review the options and to provide input on which one they prefer and why. The meeting will follow an open house format, with questionnaires available. All information and comments gathered will be considered as the design progresses.
For more information about the meeting, please contact the Transportation Cabinet’s Department of Highways District 9 office at (800) 817-2551.
