(Sept. 21, 2011) – The next public meeting has been scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 15, 5-7 p.m. at Advance Memorial United Methodist Church's Family Life Center at 1007 Bellefonte Road in Flatwoods. Since this spring the Transportation Cabinet's consultant, HMB Professional Engineers, has been gathering information regarding the challenges and issues facing users of existing KY 207 and using that information to develop alternatives for improving the roadway. This next public meeting will feature those alternatives, maps of proposed improvements and other information.
More than 100 attend Transportation Cabinet public meeting April 12 in Flatwoods
FLEMINGSBURG, Ky. (April 13, 2011) – If you weren't among the more than 100 people who gathered in Flatwoods this week, Tuesday, April 12, to tell the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet what should be done to make KY 207 a better state highway, it's not too late to have your say.
Cabinet engineers and HMB Professional Engineers Inc., the consultants hired to redesign the road, will accept public comments through April 27.
All you have to do is answer a few questions: What would improve the highway? Where would you change it? What do engineers need to know? (The comment deadline has passed.)
The goals of the KY 207 project, currently in the design phase, are improving access and increasing safety along six miles of KY 207 between Flatwoods and the Industrial Parkway.
During design, engineers will use map and survey data, the public comments being gathered now, project goals and other information to develop improvement alternatives. Those alternatives could include building a new road or sections of a new road, improving the existing highway in places or a combination.
Those alternatives will be presented at another public meeting later this year, where residents and roadway users can see “lines on a map” and can help decide future changes.

Public meeting on KY 207 redesign set for April 12 in Flatwoods!

FLEMINGSBURG, Ky. – The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet is redesigning six miles of KY 207 in Greenup County, and engineers need the public's help.
Basically, they want to know, how would you improve your drive? What would you change about the highway? And where?
The Transportation Cabinet wants to hear answers to those and other questions about its project to improve KY 207 from downtown Flatwoods to the Industrial Parkway during a public meeting April 12 in Flatwoods. The meeting will be 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Advance Memorial United Methodist Church's Family Life Center at 1007 Bellefonte Road . The meeting will be informal and interactive with Transportation Cabinet officials and consultants available to provide information, answer questions and receive comments about the project.
Area residents, commuters, business-owners and other highway users are urged to attend and offer input on the needs of the project and identify any potential concerns.
“We want to partner with the community and hear ideas on how to improve access and increase safety between Flatwoods and the Industrial Parkway,” said Bart Bryant, chief district engineer for Department of Highways District 9. “Only through meeting with local citizens and discussing their traffic needs can a comprehensive plan be developed.”
At the April 12 meeting, questionnaires will be distributed. The public may provide both verbal and written comments. For more information, or to send in comments, write to Department of Highways District 9, P.O. Box 347, Flemingsburg, Ky. 41041, or call toll-free (800) 817-2551.
