Work Zone Safety Week  is observed across Kentucky

National Work Zone Safety Week is April 15-19
LEXINGTON, Ky. (April 15, 2013) — The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, Department of Highways, announces that Work Zone Safety Week is April 15-19. There are several active and upcoming 2013 transportation projects for the counties in District 7.
Traditionally, the highway construction season begins in April of each year.  Cabinet engineers and contractors work cooperatively to design projects and work schedules that minimize delays and accidents.
District 7 includes Anderson, Bourbon, Boyle, Clark, Fayette, Garrard, Jessamine, Madison, Mercer, Montgomery, Scott and Woodford Counties.
Active and upcoming projects:
US 25 Widening in Scott County
The 2.6 mile widening project begins just south of Ironworks Pike in Fayette County and ends at Etter Lane in Scott County.  The project will improve safety, capacity and system linkage.
Kiddville Road/Mountain Parkway Interchange project for Clark County
This active project includes a new bridge over the parkway and four access ramps.  In addition, KY 974 (Kiddville Road) between the Mountain Parkway and KY 15 will be reconstructed.
US 25 in Madison County
This is a widening project for developing two lanes to five lanes.  The length of the project is from KY 876 (the Eastern Bypass) at mile point 15.442 to Pumpkin Run Road located at mile point 14.833.
US 68 (Millersburg Road) for Bourbon County
A widening project from 2 to 4 lanes beginning at the Paris By-Pass (mile point 0.00) and ending near Millersburg (a total of 6.392 miles).
KY 33/KY 34 Connector in Boyle County
The project involves initially constructing a two lane road with right-of-way for a four lane road.
Newtown Pike Extension in Fayette County
Several improvements for infrastructure including; new streets and roadways is an ongoing part of the re-development of the Southend Park Neighborhood. 
Newtown Pike Widening from West 4th St. to Loudon Avenue in Fayette County
The current project includes the widening of a section of Newtown Pike to five lanes which will mean improved safety and provide access.
Citation Boulevard in Fayette County
A new roadway will be constructed with a four-lane curb and gutter from Alexandria Drive to Georgetown Road.
Two pavement rehabilitation projects for US 60 (Fayette & Woodford Counties)
US 60/Versailles Road is currently being rehabilitated from the Martha Layne Collins Blue Grass Parkway to KY 4 (New Circle Road) – a distance of 6.43 miles.
An upcoming rehabilitation project will involve more than 7 miles in Woodford County from the Franklin Count line (mile point zero) to mile point 7.3.
