Sign honoring Elmer Stephenson to be unveiled Friday in Jessamine County
KY Highway 29 to be named for Elmer Stephenson
LEXINGTON, Ky. (Oct. 29, 2013) — By action of the Kentucky General Assembly, Kentucky Route 29 in Jessamine County will be designated the “Elmer Stephenson Highway.”  The portion of roadway is from the US 27 Bypass to the intersection with US 68.
Mr. Elmer Stephenson served as a teacher and coach for Nicholasville High School from 1952 to 1959.  When the Jessamine County High School opened, Stephenson continued his work there through 1970.  He coached both baseball and football during his tenure with the Jessamine County School System.
Stephenson obtained an undergraduate degree from Transylvania University in Lexington.  In addition, he completed a graduate degree at the University of Kentucky.
