Rehab to be finished next year
FRANKFORT, Ky. (Jan. 4, 2013) – One of the major traffic arteries of central Kentucky – heavily traveled U.S. 60 between Lexington and Versailles – will be improved in 2013 through two pavement rehabilitation projects recently awarded by the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet.
The two projects combined cover more than 13 miles.
The first project will rehabilitate more than 7 miles in Woodford County from the Fayette County line (mile point zero) to mile point 7.3. The work is to be completed by Oct. 31, 2013. The contract was awarded to a joint venture of H.G. Mays Corp. and Mago Construction LLC on a low bid of $13.19 million.
The second project will involve both Woodford and Fayette counties. The highway will be repaved from the Martha Layne Collins Blue Grass Parkway to KY 4 (New Circle Road) – a distance of 6.39 miles. L-M Asphalt Partners was awarded the contract for its low bid of $22.74 million. A completion date for this portion has been set as Dec. 1, 2013.
