2007-10 - Caldwell/Christian Counties Bridge Replacement Projects QUESTION: As this RFP is for two projects, will additional project approach pages be allowed beyond the normal three pages? ANSWER: On other projects KYTC has allowed extra
pages in the Project approach when there was and extra bridge.
In this case there are a total of 3 bridges. An extra 3 pages will be
allowed for the project approach in the response to announcement for
a total of 6 pages (A-F). 2007-10 - QUESTION: The fourth task listed
under "Scope" on Page 2 is identified as "Survey/Drawing/Inventory".
However, the description following this task refers to Speeds
Studies. We would like to confirm
whether: 1. This task should read "Speed Studies"
instead of "Survey/Drawing/Inventory"; and 2. If so, whether "Survey/Drawing/Inventory"
will also be a component in this project. ANSWER: The advertisement as originally released
contined a typographical error and was missing
some information. It should have read: Survey/Drawing/Inventory
– The task order will indicate the degree of sophistication desired.
In most cases, a good sketch with rough distances will be adequate.
Inventories will generally consist of equipment and support infrastructure. Speed Studies – Speed studies
need to be manual and in conformance with standard practice from the
Traffic Control Devices Handbook or some other reference. We would also want these to be manual, not
tubes or other methods. These
may need to be paid by the number of locations requested and maybe by
direction (we typically need speeds at multiple spots as part of the
same study). We may also want to require format of reporting.
We have a standard reporting sheet and excel format. 2007-10 Hardin Co. – 4-8103.00 QUESTION: Item 4-8103.00 in the April 10 bulletin (Hardin County, Elizabethtown to Radcliff Connector) is 6.25 miles long and will be divided into three construction bid packages. Because of the length and the number of bid packages, will the Department consider selecting three consultants or only one? ANSWER: It is the Cabinet’s intention to select one consultant for the entire 6.25 miles. It is permissible for a consultant firm to team with others with one firm being the prime consultant, responsible for the overall project. 2007-10 Caldwell/Christian Cos. – 2-1063.00 & 2-1068.00 BRIDGE SUFFICENCY RATINGS: 2-1063.00 Replace 3 bridges and approaches on KY 139 over Donaldson Creek (B04), (B05), (B06).
