Purpose
 

The Division of Planning is responsible for conducting Small Urban Area (SUA) Transportation Studies in Kentucky for areas with populations greater than 5,000. This page includes an example scope of work, the status of SUA studies, resources.

 

Small Urban Area Transportation Study
 

Small Urban Transportation Studies assist urban areas by providing a thorough examination of the transportation network. Studies include an analysis of existing and future traffic conditions with the goal of identifying needs for a transportation network efficiently moving ever-increasing volumes of goods and travelers as rapidly and safely as possible. Products from a completed study include an Operational Improvement Plan, a travel demand model, and a Recommended Improvements Plan listing projects that have been identified as solutions to forecasted Level of Service (LOS) deficiencies.
