The
1999 Statewide Transportation Plan is the second, multimodal,
long-range plan produced by the Kentucky Transportation
Cabinet. The first plan was developed in 1995. The Statewide
Transportation Plan is a long-range 20-year plan for
all modes of transportation: highways, air, bikeways
and pedestrian, public transportation, rail, and waterways.
This
Plan includes a demographic picture of Kentucky, an
overview of all transportation systems, a description
of the transportation planning and public involvement
processes in Kentucky, a funding summary for all systems
and project listings for each mode (where available).
The project listings are presented in two phases: a
short-range element (ranging from one to six years)
and a long-range element (generally fourteen to nineteen
years beyond the short-range element), based on estimated
funding over the 20-year period. This Plan only includes
projects for which some type of funding is anticipated.
The Kentucky Statewide Transportation Plan is updated
every four years.
