Effective June 30, 2009 any vehicles with a combined weight of 62,000 pounds or greater added to a Kentucky based IRP account will automatically be added to the Kentucky Weight Distance Tax(KYU) inventory of the carrier listed as being responsible for the safety of the vehicle. It will not be necessary for your company to submit a TC95-38(application for vehicle additions or deletions subject to KYU) or submit electronically via the Internet to add the vehicle to your inventory.

Vehicles added as vehicle transfer and renewal transactions will not be added to the inventory. They must be added on a TC95-38 form or via the Internet.

Per KRS 138.660, Section 3; “Every motor carrier shall pay for every motor vehicle operated upon the public highways of this state with a combined licensed weight in excess of fifty-nine thousand nine hundred and ninety-nine (59,999) pounds a weight distance tax computed at the rate of two and eighty-five hundredths cents ($0.0285) per mile.”
