DESIGN MEMORANDUM NO. 12-97 TO: Chief District Engineers FROM: John B. Sacksteder, P.E. DATE: November 10, 1997 SUBJECT: TRAFFIC CONTROL COORDINATION In an effort to enhance the Traffic Control Process a Traffic Control Coordinator was recommended and deemed necessary to report on long-range proposals and to monitor projects for potential conflicts. Ricky Young, who is located within the Design Coordination Section, has been appointed the position of Traffic Control Coordinator for the Division of Highway Design and shall assume these duties accordingly. Beginning with the January 1998 Letting the Traffic Control Coordinator shall be notified of all road and/or lane closures that may be expected on any major project. This notification shall be the responsibility of the Project Manager and must be provided 90 days prior to letting with an indication of the expected time frames for such closures. The required information for each project closure shall contain the County Name, Route Number, Road Name, Item Number, Letting Date, location/area by Mile Points, and Time Frame(s). This data can be prepared with either WordPerfect or Microsoft Word. The following are examples of how this information shall be formatted: **************************************************************************************************** The preferred method for furnishing this information shall be by Microsoft Exchange or what is commonly referred to as E-Mail. The e-mail address is "Young, Ricky (KYTC)" or "ryoung@mail.kytc.state.ky.us". An alternative method for furnishing this informatiom is by mail through the Cabinets Mailing System (Mail Code 6-1, Division of Highway Design).
