Attached is the Pavement Design Guide for Projects OFF THE NATIONAL HIGHWAY SYSTEM, LESS THAN ONE KILOMETER (0.60 mile) IN LENGTH AND FOR LESS THAN 5,000,000 EQUIVALENT SINGLE AXLE LOADS, September 20, 1997. This pavement design guide is recommended for immediate implementation for use by roadway designers on affected projects. It is recognized that experience with pavement design practices will vary considerably. Therefore, it is proposed to develop pavement design training programs (or implement currently available training programs) to provide for continued advancement of pavement design experience in Kentucky. With the completion of this Guide, Pavement Design Staff will now begin development or review of necessary training programs.

As a means of facilitating implementation of this Guide and to provide technical assistance in the area of pavement design, the following recommendations are herein provided for liaison with districts as related to the pavement area.

Districts 1, 2, and 6: Dan Hite
Districts 3, 4, and 8: Gary Newton
Districts 5, 10, and 12: Leo Frank
Districts 7, 9, and 11: Gary Sharpe
