DESIGN MEMORANDUM NO. 1-98 TO: Chief District Engineers FROM: John B. Sacksteder, P.E. DATE: February 24, 1998 SUBJECT: Bid Item Codes This memorandum voids and supersedes Design Memorandum No. 1-97 and supplements thereto. Attached hereto is a complete, revised listing of current bid items and the codes assigned, an index of items by category, and a glossary of abbreviations used therein. For your convenience, the listing is presented in both numerical and alphabetical sequence. Also, for your information at this time, the bid items are arranged in pairs in the numerical listing, with the upper item in english units and the lower item in metric units. The item is listed only once if there is no difference between the english and the metric description. In order to comply with current bidding procedures, it is important that bid item codes are included as early as possible in the preparation of plans. Therefore, effective upon receipt of this memorandum, code numbers with accompanying descriptions and units are required to be shown on the summary sheets for all bid items appearing in the attached listing before plans are submitted to this office for final review. Code numbers for special or nonrecurring items not included in the attached listing will be assigned after the plans are submitted. Please address any questions to this office. JBS:GCD Attachments
