Welcome to STGEC 2007
The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet is privileged to host the 39th meeting of STGEC which will be held October 8-12, 2007, in Bowling Green, Kentucky. We will discuss at STGEC 2007 many topics that you will find interesting, rewarding, and useful in your day-to-day work.
Many of you may not know anything about Bowling Green, Kentucky, which is located in the south central area of our Commonwealth. It is the home of the world’s longest natural cave system, a five-level labyrinth of more than 365 miles of tunnels and mapped passages. Among other local attractions are Western Kentucky University and the Corvette Museum. The Holiday Inn University Plaza on Scottsville Road, site of our conference, is one of the finest facilities in the Holiday Inn chain. Hotel amenities include complimentary local area shuttle. Guest rooms are centered around a seven story indoor garden atrium.
All meetings will be held at the conference center, which is in the hotel. Once at the center, you should not need to leave until the end of the day, since all meals and breaks will be at the conference center. Evening meals, which are also a STGEC function, will either be at the conference center or the hotel.
If you are a golfer, be sure you bring your clubs to test your skills at the course voted “Best Public Golf Course” in Bowling Green – the CrossWinds Golf Course. It is located at 1031 Wilkinson Trace and offers some of the finest golf anywhere. It is a challenging course which any golfer will want to try at the STGEC tournament and other times which you might have available.
We are planning interesting and enjoyable activities for spouses. We hope that you will bring your spouse so they can enjoy the sights and camaraderie.
If you are flying to the conference, you can fly into the Nashville (TN) International Airport, which is approximately 70 miles south of Bowling Green, or the Louisville (KY) International Airport, which is 90 minutes northeast of Bowling Green. The Holiday Inn University Plaza is approximately two miles from downtown Bowling Green Municipal Airport.
The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet looks forward to hosting you in Bowling Green this year, where we will continue to build on the sound professional basis that has been established by previous STGEC conferences.
