BRIDGE & MAINTENANCE DESIGN
The Bridge and Maintenance Design Branch prepares plans for new highway structures (bridges, culverts, retaining walls and other miscellaneous structures) determined to be performed with in-house design forces. The branch also prepares plans for repairs and improvements to existing structures and provide expertise and guidance in the area of structural design to other division and district office personnel within the Department of Highways.
The Bridge Review Branch provides oversight and contract management of projects designed be external consultants. This branch also provides computer assisted drafting services and performs the administrative functions for the Division. Like the Bridge and Maintenance Branch, this branch provides structural design expertise and guidance to the Department of Highways.
The Geotechnical Branch is responsible for all functions relating to geotechnical engineering (with the exception of research) required for the planning, design, construction and maintenance of roads and bridges under the jurisdiction of the Department of Highways.
