Capital City Airport showcases a variety of aircraft Sept. 21
FRANKFORT, Ky. (Sept. 16, 2012) – The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, in conjunction with the Kentucky National Guard, will host Aviation Day at Capital City Airport in Frankfort, Saturday, Sept. 21. The event is 9 a.m. - 2 p.m. EDT.
“The purpose of Aviation Day is to showcase the Capital City Airport by giving folks an opportunity to come out and get an up-close look at the wide variety of aircraft that fly in here,” airport manager Dave Gauss said. “We’ll have civilian, private and military aircraft on display."
Free airplane rides will be available for youth ages 8-17. Flights for adults will also be available for a donation to the Kentucky Institute for Aerospace Education (KIAE).
In addition, KIAE representatives will be available to assist young people interested in aviation, as will personnel and aircraft from the aviation program at Eastern Kentucky University.
“These aviation education programs are part of the many organizations and vendors that will participate in this year’s Aviation Day,” Gauss said.
Admission and parking are free.
