The purpose of “Saved by the Belt” program is to identify individuals in Kentucky whose lives have been saved, or injuries significantly reduced, because they were wearing a seat belt or were secured in a child safety seat during a vehicle crash . In recognizing individuals who were “saved by the belt, ” the Transportation Cabinet’s Office of Highway Safety and its safety partners hope to increase public awareness of the benefits of riding properly restrained.
