GIS within the Transportation Cabinet
The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) has developed a Geographic Information System (GIS) over the past 22 years. KYTC has been an active partner within the GIS community participating in policy and standards development as well as contributing to the strategic investment in LIDAR and statewide aerial photography. The cabinet currently has approximately 500 desktop users who use GIS from the early inception of projects through planning, design, construction, and maintenance processes of our transportation network. GIS is also utilized in such diverse areas as protecting our environment, legal review, and aviation oversight.
KYTC also publishes a variety of interactive maps that can be found at KYTC Maps. The maps are driven by ArcGIS Server using the Microsoft Silverlight plug-in.
