Traffic advisory: Closure Thursday on KY 538 in Boyd
Road closed 9-2 to all traffic at 5.8 mile marker

FLEMINGSBURG, Ky. (April 29, 2014) – Lake Bonita Road (KY 538) in Boyd County will be closed to all through traffic Thursday, May 1, to prepare for an upcoming road slip repair project.

Between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. Thursday, utility crews with Kentucky Power will temporarily relocate electric lines on KY 538 at the 5.8 mile marker, which is about eight tenths of a mile from the US 23 intersection. As a safety precaution, no traffic will be allowed through the work site.

Road-closed-ahead signs will be placed at KY 538’s intersection with KY 3294 (Cannonsburg-Catlettsburg Road) and US 23, although local traffic may access locations up to the work site at the 5.8 mile marker. All through traffic should detour using I-64 or US 23 and KY 3294 through Cannonsburg or Catlettsburg.

Thursday’s work will make way for Kentucky Department of Highways contractors to install T-rail to stabilize an embankment failure in the same area – a project currently scheduled for the next two weeks.

Road work is subject to change depending on weather conditions. Motorists are asked to heed all warning signs, slow down in work zones and remain aware of workers and construction equipment when traveling.
