More than 100 attend public hearing on KY 32 reconstruction
FLEMINGSBURG, Ky. (Oct. 11, 2013) – More than 100 people attended a public hearing in Sandy Hook on Thursday, Oct. 10, to view and comment on the Transportation Cabinet’s preliminary preferred alternative for reconstructing KY 32 in Elliott and Rowan counties.
Displays featured preliminary plans to build a new 12-mile route mostly north of existing KY 32 that replaces a narrow, winding section of KY 32 between Newfoundland and Elliottville with straighter, wider travel lanes capable of increasing traffic safety and improving travel times. Visitors were also able to watch a video explaining the nearly six-year process to reach a preferred alternative, to examine an environmental assessment and to ask questions of transportation engineers. Comment forms that were available at the meeting must be received by Oct. 25. Please contact Kentucky Department of Highways District 9 at (800) 817-2551 for further information, or visit the project website at http://bit.ly/Renew32 to view plans and handouts.
