Traffic Advisory: Closure of Exit 156 at Olive Hill will continue Friday and Monday, July 19 and 22
Detour using Exit 161
FLEMINGSBURG, Ky. (July 18, 2013) – Improvements to Interstate 64 at Exit 156 (Smokey Valley) in Olive Hill will require continued daytime exit ramp closures Friday, July 19, and Monday, July 22.
From 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday, the westbound I-64 ramps at Exit 156 will be closed for paving, while eastbound ramps will be closed Monday during those same hours. Motorists should watch for message boards announcing the closures or advising of changes due to weather. Travel will be on rough surfaces at times.
During the closures, all traffic will be detoured to Exit 161 (Pleasant Valley) where motorists can access both eastbound and westbound lanes of I-64 or use US 60 to reach KY 2 in downtown Olive Hill.
In addition, road work remains ongoing along the first six miles of the I-64 project: From mile marker 154 past Exit 156 at Olive Hill to mile marker 160 just prior to the Pleasant Valley exit. The interstate remains one lane through the work zone, and the speed limit has been reduced to 55 miles per hour. Motorists should heed all warning signs, watch for narrow lanes and drive carefully by remaining aware of workers and construction equipment at all times.
The work is part of a Kentucky Transportation Cabinet project totaling $10,395,963.97 awarded to Mac Construction and Excavating Inc.
