Road work scheduled for US 23 at Ashland, KY 3 in Boyd County
Motorists should watch for traffic changes
FLEMINGSBURG, Ky. – Motorists should expect traffic changes next week, the week of July 8, as road work begins along Winchester Avenue (US 23) in downtown Ashland and KY 3 in rural Boyd County.
On Winchester Avenue, contractors will install handicapped-accessible sidewalk ramps at intersections – part of a $1.88 million Kentucky Transportation Cabinet project that includes resurfacing 1.8 miles of US 23 and 2.8 miles of US 60 (13th Street) in Ashland later this summer.
Only minor traffic impacts, including intermittent lane restrictions, are expected on Winchester Avenue. However, some sections of sidewalk will be closed during construction. Motorists and pedestrians should heed all warning signs and proceed carefully near construction workers and equipment.
On KY 3, contractors will be paving eight miles of that state highway from its intersection with KY 180 to the Lawrence County line as part of an $868,620.60 Transportation Cabinet improvement project. Motorists should expect one-lane traffic controlled by flaggers, and be prepared for delays.
Road work is subject to change depending on weather conditions. Motorists are asked to slow down, drive carefully in work zones and remain aware of workers and construction equipment when traveling.
