Carol Malone-KY 1947 intersection work to start June 7
Traffic impacts limited to weekends only

FLEMINGSBURG, Ky. (May 31, 2013) – Contractors will begin intersection improvements at Carol Malone Boulevard (KY 1) and KY 1947 in Grayson next weekend, the weekend of June 7.

The project – being done under an $813,632.16 Kentucky Transportation Cabinet contract with The W.L. Harper Co. – will include replacing worn asphalt pavement with concrete, and is expected to improve both ride-ability and safety through the heavily-traveled state highway intersection just north of Interstate 64 that serves KY 1947 and Carol Malone Boulevard.

To reduce traffic impacts as much as possible, construction will take place on weekends only beginning June 7 for approximately two months. Work hours will be 24-hours-a-day from 6 p.m. Friday to 6 a.m. Monday each weekend.

Work will require lane closures, and traffic patterns will change each weekend. During construction, motorists should be prepared for one-lane travel, traffic-flagging operations and expect delays. Motorists should watch message boards for updates.

Motorists are also asked to heed all warning signs, drive carefully in work zones and remain aware of workers and construction equipment when traveling. Road work is subject to change depending on weather conditions.
