Work begins on KY 801 turn lanes at Cave Run Lake
In area of Scott’s Creek Marina
FLEMINGSBURG, Ky. (Feb. 27, 2013) – Work began this week on a $614,000 Kentucky Transportation Cabinet turn-lane project on KY 801 at Cave Run Lake in Rowan County.
Funded by federal transportation dollars earmarked for roadways serving national forests, the project will rebuild approximately 1,700 feet of KY 801 at the Scott’s Creek Marina and boat ramp intersections.
During the next several months, contractors will relocate utilities then widen and repave the roadway to make room for a center left-turn lane and dedicated right-turn lanes.
The additional turn lanes are expected to reduce the risk of collisions by separating turning traffic from through traffic at the intersections.
Construction will require lane restrictions and traffic changes. Motorists should watch for message boards announcing changes, and heed all warning signs. Project completion is expected by late spring.
