Traffic diversion scheduled for I-75 in Fayette County
Part of the Interstate 75 Rehabilitation Project
LEXINGTON, Ky. (June 5, 2013) – The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, Department of Highways, announces that a traffic diversion will take place this evening for Interstate 75 in Fayette County. The traffic switch is necessary for the rehabilitation project to continue.
- Wednesday, June 5 at 8:00 p.m. – northbound traffic on Interstate 75 within the project limits will be shifted from the inside left lane and shoulder (against the barrier wall) to the outside right two lanes.
A rolling roadblock will be used for moving the traffic control devices and striping for the new transitions. Local law enforcement will be assisting with the traffic switch.
I-75 northbound will continue to be reduced to two lanes between Exit 104 (Athens Boonesboro Road) and Exit 108 (Man O War Boulevard) until further notice. The location for the project limits is mile point 105.360 to mile point 107.450.
The speed limit is 55 MPH with double fines for violations that occur within the work zone.
All scheduled work is subject to change depending on weather, emergencies and other factors beyond the control of the Department of Highways.
The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet asks motorists to be aware of the work zone and to utilize safe driving habits when traveling through the work area.
