Closures scheduled for Georgetown and Fourth Streets
in Fayette County
The widening project from West Fourth Street to West Loudon Avenue
LEXINGTON, Ky. (April 5, 2013) – The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, Department of Highways, announces that closures are scheduled for Georgetown Street and Fourth Street in Lexington, Fayette County.
The closures are necessary for the intersection reconstruction of Georgetown Road/Fourth Street and Newtown Pike. In addition, the sanitary sewer line will be rebuilt in the center area of Fourth Street.
Monday, April 8 at 8:00 a.m.
- Georgetown Street will close from Booker Street to Newtown Pike
A signed detour will be in place that follows Georgetown Road to New Circle Road to Newtown Pike.
- Fourth Street will have lane closures from Henry Street to Newtown Pike
lane closures will occur at varied intervals/one lane will remain open at all times
Motorists can utilize Jefferson Street to Main Street to Newtown Pike.
The road and lane closures will be in effect for approximately 30 days. These closures will not affect Newtown Pike.
The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet asks the traveling public to be aware of the work zone and to utilize safe driving habits when traveling through the area.
