Norfolk Southern – Kentucky Operation Lifesaver
Whistle Stop Train – Cincinnati, Ohio to Danville, Kentucky
LEXINGTON, Ky. (March 22, 2013) — The Norfolk Southern Railroad is hosting an “Operation Lifesaver Whistle-Stop Train” event. Media and employees from State and Federal Government are welcome to participate.
The event will take place on Thursday, April 11, 2013. Topics include safety at highway-rail grade crossings and the serious issue of trespassing on railroad tracks.
Passengers will have a firsthand look at what train crews see daily on the tracks. Safety tips will be provided from Operation Lifesaver. Operation Lifesaver is a national non-profit safety education group whose goal is to eliminate deaths and injuries at railroad crossings and along railroad tracks.
Information will also be provided about how today’s railroads connect businesses in your state and across the nation, and bring economic development and jobs to communities.

Railroad safety tips:
- Expect a train at any time – trains don’t move on predictable schedules.
- Never drive around lowered crossing gates or walk on train tracks.
- It can take a train a mile or more to stop – that’s nearly 18 football fields.
