Project Update #5

US 60/Lexington Avenue Roadway Rehabilitation

for Clark County

Mile Point 4.678 to Mile Point 6.675

LEXINGTON, Ky. (June 23, 2015) – The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, Department of Highways, announces that this advisory serves as an update for the US 60/Lexington Avenue project in Clark County.

  • the first phase of pavement removal/replacement between Maryland Avenue and Breeze Hill Drive is nearing completion

o   at this point the area is tentatively scheduled to be reopened to a normal traffic configuration on Thursday (06/25) afternoon

  • pavement removal/replacement operations will then shift to the section between Hays Street and Maryland Avenue

  • tentatively, on Thursday (06/25) afternoon, Lexington Avenue will become one-way to the east (toward town) from Maryland Avenue to Maple Street

  • once pavement removal/replacement is complete between Hays and Maryland Avenue the section will be reopened to a normal configuration

o   at that time traffic will continue to be one-way to the east (toward town) from Hays Street to Maple Street until that section is complete

  • as traffic is currently one-way to the east, westbound traffic on US 60 will be detoured around Maple Street, Boone Avenue, Belmont Avenue and the Bypass
  • signage will be in place to alert the traveling public

  • work will continue during this time for entrances and sidewalk between Maryland Avenue and Maple Street

Note:  the project is on schedule to have all one-way phasing completed prior to Clark

County Schools returning to fall session

All work is subject to change depending on weather, emergencies and other factors beyond the control of the Department of Highways.
