Temporary closure of US 127 in Franklin County begins July 7
Wilkinson Boulevard to be closed between Clinton and Mero Streets
Louisville, KY (July 2, 2014) – A section of US 127 (Wilkinson Boulevard) in Frankfort will be closed as part of construction to remove and replace the concrete pavement from West Broadway to Holmes Street. Wilkinson Boulevard is scheduled for closure between Clinton Street and Mero Street (mile point 8.5 to 8.9) in front of the Capital Plaza Hotel beginning Monday, July 7 at 9:00 a.m.
This section of Wilkinson Boulevard will be closed for approximately two weeks while contract crews complete pavement repairs in this area. Some lanes on the West Frankfort Connector will also be closed as part of this construction. The areas shaded in blue on the map below indicate the lanes that will be closed.
One lane will be open from the West Frankfort Connector to Clinton Street for inbound traffic to downtown Frankfort. On weekdays, two lanes will be open to handle the heavy traffic volumes from downtown on Mero Street to the West Frankfort Connector. This section of roadway will be reduced to one lane on the weekends.
Motorists traveling from the West Frankfort Connector to northbound Wilkinson Boulevard will be detoured via Clinton Street, High Street and Mero Street.
Traffic from southbound Wilkinson Boulevard will be detoured via US 127 (West Frankfort Connector), KY 1211 (Taylor Avenue), West Second Street and Capital Avenue to access downtown Frankfort.
The W.L. Harper Company of Hebron, Kentucky was awarded the $8.9 million contract for this project with construction scheduled for completion in November 2014.
