Bullitt County welcome center receives top honors
Interstate 65 rest area shines in annual competition
SHEPHERDSVILLE, Ky. (May 13, 2014) — The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) today named the Bullitt County welcome center along Interstate 65 near Shepherdsville the Commonwealth’s best-maintained rest area of 2013.
Certificates were presented today to employees of T&T Cleaning Service, of Boston, Kentucky. T&T Cleaning Service provides janitorial services for the Bullitt County facility along with Kentucky rest areas in McCracken, Carter and Oldham counties. This marks the second time this facility has received the award.
Transportation Secretary Mike Hancock commended all workers who are responsible for the facility’s upkeep.
“Having clean, accessible rest areas for travelers is one important way in which we fulfill our mission to provide a safe and reliable transportation system,” Secretary Hancock said.
“Motorists traveling Kentucky interstates recognize and appreciate the high level of care and attention given to ensure a safe, clean environment at our rest areas. The employees of T&T Cleaning Service do an exemplary job every day to make sure the Bullitt County welcome center reflects well on our great Commonwealth.”
The award is based on regular maintenance inspections and is presented annually by the Cabinet. Valley Crest Landscaping Inc. is responsible for landscape maintenance at the facility. KYTC Division of Maintenance oversees the operation.
The Cabinet operates seven welcome centers, 16 rest areas and four truck rest havens at weigh station locations. This year marks the 15th annual award ceremony.
