Bridge inspection scheduled on Interstate 64 over the Kentucky River
Daytime lane closures necessary for inspection equipment
Louisville, KY (October 3, 2013) – Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) bridge engineers will be performing a biannual inspection of the bridges on Interstate 64 over the Kentucky River in Franklin County (mile point 55.4).  The inspection is scheduled to begin October 7 on the eastbound bridge and should be completed in one week.  Inspection of the bridge on westbound I-64 is scheduled for the week of October 14.
The right lane on I-64 will be closed weekdays from 9:30 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. to allow for this assessment.  Inspectors will be using a snooper truck to inspect the underside of these bridges.
All bridges in Kentucky are inspected at least once every two years.
The actual starting date and duration of this work may be adjusted if inclement weather or other unforeseen delays occur.  Dial 511 or log on to 511.ky.gov for the latest in traffic and travel information in the Commonwealth of Kentucky.  You can also get traffic information for the District 5 counties at www.facebook.com/KYTCDistrict5.
