Louisville, KY (September 16, 2013) - The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) District 5 Office advises motorists of construction work on Interstate 71 in Oldham.  Contract crews will begin work this week to install median cable barriers between mile points 15 and 17.8.
KYTC recently awarded a contract to the George B. Stone Company for installation of median cable barriers on Interstate 71 in Oldham and Gallatin counties.   Cable barriers will be installed along 3 miles of roadway in Oldham County and along 8 miles of roadway in Gallatin County. 
Lane closures are possible on southbound I-71 in Oldham County between mile points 15 and 17.8 on weeknights from 7:00 p.m. until 5:00 a.m. the following morning and on weekends from 7:00 p.m. on Friday until 5:00 a.m. on Monday.  Shoulder closures are possible 24 hours/day.
The contract amount for this project is $1.6 million and has a completion date of November 30, 2013.
