Transportation Cabinet awards contracts for eight highway projects in District 10
 
JACKSON, Ky. — The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet recently awarded contracts totaling more than $12.1 million for eight highway projects within the Department of Highways District 10.
 
Contracts awarded as part of the July 2014 letting are:
  • A $908,735.60 project to replace a bridge crossing the South Fork of the Kentucky River on Hacker Branch Road (CR 1136) in Owsley County. Construction is to be completed within 85 working days once the project begins.
  • A $353,862.26 project to replace a bridge crossing Trace Fork on Rye Branch Road (CR 1756) in Magoffin County. Construction is to be completed within 50 days once the project begins.
  • A $512,276.88 project to construct a turning lane on KY 52 at the intersection of KY 1457 in Estill County. Construction is to be completed by Nov. 28.
  • A $4,277,564.72 project to replace a bridge crossing the North Fork of the Kentucky River and CSX Transportation railroad on KY 80 at Combs in Perry County. Construction is to be completed within 240 working days once the project begins.
  • A $383,745.67 project to resurface portions of KY 1639, KY 615 and KY 1028 in Powell County. Construction is to be completed by Nov. 30.
  • A $266,841.25 project to resurface portions of various county routes in Breathitt County. Construction is to be completed by Oct. 15.
  • A $3,782,672.63 project for pavement rehabilitation on approximately five miles of the four-lane section of KY 80 in Perry County. Construction is to be completed by June 30.
  • A $1,665,660.57 project for pavement rehabilitation on approximately two miles of the Hal Rogers Parkway in Perry County. Construction is to be completed by June 30.
 
The Department of Highways District 10 consists of 10 counties – Breathitt, Estill, Lee, Magoffin, Menifee, Morgan, Owsley, Perry, Powell and Wolfe – in east-central and southeastern Kentucky. The district office is located in Jackson.
 
Construction activities are scheduled on a tentative basis and are subject to change depending on weather conditions. Motorists are asked to drive with caution in work zones and be aware of workers, traffic control devices and construction equipment when traveling in areas where projects are ongoing.
 
Significant traffic impacts resulting from construction and maintenance projects are posted on District 10’s website (http://transportation.ky.gov/District-10), the district’s Facebook page (http://www.facebook.com/KYTCDistrict10) and also on the district’s Twitter feed (http://www.twitter.com/KYTCDistrict10). Drivers can check these sites prior to traveling to determine if there will be traffic delays for which they should be prepared.
