Drivers alerted to changing traffic patterns on KY 11/KY 15 near Slade in Powell County
JACKSON, KY -- Drivers who use KY 11/KY 15 between Slade and Stanton in Powell County should be aware of changing traffic patterns due to a bridge replacement project near Slade.
Traffic was diverted today to a temporary bridge across the Middle Fork of the Red River. The existing bridge will be removed and replaced with a new $895,095.49 span. The project location is near mile marker 4 on KY 11.
Drivers are urged to slow down and obey the advisory speed signs posted in the construction zone. The configuration of the temporary bridge and the detour route includes curves and a dip in the roadway, meaning a reduction in normal traveling speed will be necessary to safely negotiate the detour.
Motorists are advised to be alert to the possibility of encountering stopped traffic during the construction. They are urged to be on the lookout for flaggers, workers, equipment and traffic control devices as the work progresses. The project is scheduled to be completed by this fall.
