Repairs begin on bridge on KY 52 in Breathitt County
Traffic reduced to one lane, controlled by temporary signals
JACKSON, KY – Traffic on a bridge on KY 52 at milepoint 9.460 in Breathitt County has been reduced to one lane and will be controlled by traffic signals for approximately the next three weeks as repairs are made to the bridge’s deck.
Work began Thursday, May 8 on a project to restore the deck of the bridge crossing Lindon Fork of Cane Creek near Elkatawa, just west of the KY 30 intersection. This project will affect traffic between Jackson and Beattyville.
One 10-foot lane will be maintained while the work is ongoing. Loads wider than 10 feet should seek an alternate route. No signed wide load detour will be posted.
Drivers should slow down as they approach this construction zone, watch for stopped traffic and obey the temporary traffic signal. Motorists are asked to be aware of workers, traffic control devices and construction equipment when traveling in this and other areas where projects are ongoing.
