Transportation Cabinet awards contracts for eight highway projects in District 10
 
Work includes pavement striping in 10 counties, resurfacing in five counties
 
JACKSON, Ky. — The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet recently awarded eight contracts totaling nearly $3.5 million for eight highway projects within the Department of Highways District 10.
 
Contracts awarded as part of the March 2014 letting are:
  • A $232,222.94 contract for waterborne paint striping on roads in all 10 counties within the highway district. The project is to be completed by Nov. 1.
  • A $435,784.74 contract for resurfacing 1.83 miles of KY 52 in Estill County. The project is to be completed by Nov. 15.
  • An $856,081.15 contract for resurfacing 4.14 miles of KY 11 in Lee County. The project is to be completed by Nov. 15.
  • A $444,945.40 contract for resurfacing 4.25 miles of KY 52 in Lee County. The project is to be completed by Nov. 15.
  • A $142,701.80 contract for resurfacing one mile of KY 1274 in Menifee County. The project is to be completed by Nov. 15.
  • A $429,237.78 contract for resurfacing 2.01 miles of US 460 in Morgan County. The project is to be completed by Nov. 15.
  • A $575,386 contract for resurfacing 0.43 miles of KY 451 and 2.67 miles of KY 476 in Perry County. The project is to be completed by Nov. 15.
  • A $358,490.30 project for resurfacing 0.94 miles of KY 15 in Perry County. The project is to be completed by Nov. 15.
 
The Department of Highways District 10 consists of 10 counties – Breathitt, Estill, Lee, Magoffin, Menifee, Morgan, Owsley, Perry, Powell and Wolfe – in east-central and southeastern Kentucky. The district office is located in Jackson.
 
Construction activities are scheduled on a tentative basis and are subject to change depending on weather conditions. Motorists are asked to drive with caution in work zones and be aware of workers, traffic control devices and construction equipment when traveling in areas where projects are ongoing.
 
Significant traffic impacts resulting from construction and maintenance projects are posted on District 10’s website (http://transportation.ky.gov/District-10), the district’s Facebook page (http://www.facebook.com/KYTCDistrict10) and also on the district’s Twitter feed (http://www.twitter.com/KYTCDistrict10). Drivers can check these sites prior to traveling to determine if there will be traffic delays for which they should be prepared.
