Repairs on KY 82 Red River bridge in Powell County to begin Sept. 22
Traffic to be reduced to one 11-foot lane and controlled by temporary signals
JACKSON, KY – A bridge repair project scheduled to begin Sunday, Sept. 22 in Powell County will result in one-lane traffic and delays for motorists using KY 82 between Clay City and Estill County.
Repairs to the span carrying KY 82 across the Red River at milepoint 1.11 will start on Sunday, Sept. 22. Beginning Tuesday, Sept. 24, temporary signals will control traffic at the bridge. These temporary signals will be in place for up to four weeks as work on a painting project proceeds.
During the work, the bridge will be restricted to vehicles less than 11 feet wide. Vehicles wider than 11 feet will need to find an alternate route around the work zone.
Drivers should slow down as they approach this construction zone, watch for stopped traffic and obey the temporary traffic signal. Motorists should always be aware of workers, traffic control devices and construction equipment when traveling in this and any other areas where projects are ongoing.
