Repairs scheduled for bridge on KY 699 in Perry County
Traffic reduced to one lane, controlled by temporary signals until further notice
JACKSON, KY – Traffic on a bridge on KY 699 at milepoint 7.5 in Perry County has been reduced to one lane and controlled by traffic signals until further notice because of damage to the bridge’s deck.
On Aug. 13, a hole developed on one lane of the bridge. Kentucky Transportation Cabinet personnel immediately closed the lane and flagged drivers around the closure until temporary traffic signals were installed to control traffic at the bridge, located in the Beehive community near Leatherwood.
Personnel from the Transportation Cabinet’s central office in Frankfort evaluated the damage last week and developed a repair plan. A contract for restoration of the bridge deck will be advertised in September with an expedited completion date to ensure the work is done by the end of this year.
Until repairs can be made, motorists are reminded to obey the traffic signals that are in place to control traffic flow on the bridge.
