Transportation Cabinet awards eight highway improvement contracts for five District 10 counties
Projects include paving and bridge repairs
JACKSON, Ky. — The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet recently awarded eight contracts totaling nearly $5.6 million for highway projects within the Department of Highways District 10. Included are paving and bridge repair projects in five counties.
 
Contracts awarded as part of the June and July 2013 lettings are:
  • A $1,545,240.70 project to install asphalt shoulders along 4.1 miles of KY 30 between KY 2024 and the Breathitt County line in Owsley County. The work is to be completed by Nov. 30.
  • A $256,442.69 project to resurface 1.45 miles of KY 191 between KY 15 and KY 746 in Wolfe County. The work is to be completed by Nov. 15.
  • A $181,435.80 project for bridge deck restoration and waterproofing on two bridges carrying KY 15 over the Mountain Parkway in Wolfe County. The work is to be completed by Nov. 15.
  • A $1,066,519.21 project to resurface two sections of KY 476 totaling 10.21 miles in Breathitt County. The work is to be completed by Nov. 15.
  • A $376,545.60 project to resurface 2.14 miles of KY 205 between Litteral Lane and KY 1812 in Breathitt County. The work is to be completed by Nov. 15.
  • A $885,008.33 project to resurface 5.42 miles of KY 11 between KY 498 and the Wolfe County line in Lee County. The work is to be completed by Nov. 15.
  • A $757,188.89 project to resurface 4.36 miles of KY 7 between KY 1165 and KY 2447 in Perry County. The work is to be completed by Nov. 15.
  • A $497,751.62 contract to resurface portions of KY 587, KY 851, KY 1209 and KY 2016 in Lee County. The work is to be completed by Nov. 30.
 
The Department of Highways District 10 consists of 10 counties – Breathitt, Estill, Lee, Magoffin, Menifee, Morgan, Owsley, Perry, Powell and Wolfe – in east-central and southeastern Kentucky. The district office is located in Jackson.
 
Construction activities are scheduled on a tentative basis and are subject to change depending on weather conditions. Motorists are asked to drive with caution in work zones and be aware of workers, traffic control devices and construction equipment when traveling in areas where projects are ongoing.
 
Significant traffic impacts resulting from construction and maintenance projects are posted on District 10’s website (http://transportation.ky.gov/District-10), the district’s Facebook page (http://www.facebook.com/KYTCDistrict10) and also on the district’s Twitter feed (http://www.twitter.com/KYTCDistrict10). Drivers can check these sites prior to traveling to determine if there will be traffic delays for which they should be prepared.
